Engineered Wiper seals
One of the largest causes of damage and failure in a hydraulic system is contamination from external sources; therefore, the correct choice of Wiper Seal should be considered a priority for the design engineer or RAM repairer.
The main function of a Wiper Seal as its name suggests is to wipe or scrape debris from the piston rod to prevent foreign particles such as dust, mud, sand and moisture from entering the sealing system. By preventing this ingress, wiper seals prevent possible scratches and damage occurring to the piston rod and cylinder bore which thoroughly extends the working life and leak-free performance of the other sealing components in the hydraulic or pneumatic system.
M Seals provide Engineered Wiper Seals to suit all applications, if you require a reliable solution to your contamination problems then we have the solution.

Summary

AB01 Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB01 (commonly referred to as a 3-step wiper) is an economical flexible Snap-Fit wiper seal for light to medium duty applications which is designed to fit into a stepped housing. The additional shoulder/step provides improved exclusion of dirt and other debris around the outside diameter of the gland. Pre-load on the outside diameter to provide stability and prevent rolling in the groove as the shaft reciprocates.
AB02 Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB02 Wiper Seal is an economical and industry standard excluder. The precision machined scraping lip ensures excellent debris removal from the shaft and exclusion of external system debris from the system. The AB02 comes with pre-load on the outside diameter to provide stability and prevent rolling in the groove as the shaft reciprocates.
AB02A Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB02A profile has an interference fit on the outside diameter which provides stability in the seal groove and helps to prevent possible movement and roll when the shaft reciprocates.
The plunged radius in the shoulder provides the precision machined scraping lip with increased flexibility over other standard wiper seals which makes the AB02A a perfect choice for applications that require reduced friction or where side-load or misalignment may occur.
Standard materials are PU and Hard grade PU for improved abrasion resistance, but other high-performance elastomers are available if the application requires.

AB02B Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB02B Wiper Seal is recommended for heavy duty applications where possible contaminants such as mud or ice may be present. The seal is designed with both pre-load and a sealing lip on the outside diameter. This external sealing lip helps prevent debris and moisture travelling behind the static diameter of the groove and entering the system. The AB02B is a good choice for applications where cylinders are working in a vertical position as moisture tends to gather in the wiper gland area in these circumstances.
AB02B is normally manufactured in hard grade PU materials for extra abrasion resistance and naturally has a heavy load to provide a positive scraping action which is normally required in heavy duty applications such as those mentioned above.

AB02C Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sOur AB02C Wiper Seal is based on our standard AB02 profile but has been modified for external scraping of cylinder bores. This profile is commonly used in subsea applications where protection of the main piston seal from external contamination such as sand and silt may be required. This seal should not see direct pressure, in circumstances where this is unavoidable the profile needs to be pre-drilled with small pressure relieving holes – this obviously may allow small particles of debris to pass through into the system.
PU is generally the most suitable material for this profile, but it can be manufactured in a variety of others to suit your application

Ab03 Temperature Min: -55°C Max: 210°CSpeed Max: 5 m/s Press fit wiper (hydraulic) designed for open housings. It has a precision machined wiping lip to ensure a good wiping effect and exclusion of external system debris. Standard materials are PU wiping lip and POM outer case for ease of installation and good retention within the housing.
Only recommended for repair situations where a standard off-the-shelf metal-cased items are not suitable or where the application requires a choice of food contact quality materials.

AB07 Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB07 is a flexible snap-fit wiper seal with an angled shoulder to suit older design angled housings. Pre-load on the outside diameter ensures a stable fit in the seal housing and helps prevent dirt passing through the back of the groove onto the rod seal arrangement.
The AB07 has light contact on the scraping lip making it un-suitable for heavy duty applications where heavy contamination is present.
Standard materials are HPU, NBR and FPM Other materials on request.

AB08 Temperature Min: -55 °C Max: 210 °C
Speed Max: 5 m/sThe AB08 profile is a design commonly referred to as a Hat Wiper and is suitable for both closed and open housings (the use in open housings requires the use of a retaining ring).
The AB08 can be supplied with drilled locating holes on the flange upon request, confirmation of the hole sizes and P.C.D. will need to be provided in this instance.
A wide variety of material options are available including leather which is suitable for older machinery that may have substantial damage to the rod.
