    60% Bronze Filled PTFE Seals

We were approached by a client who required seals for a large hydraulic lift. The lift had four identical cylinders of 11.5” bore with a 10.75” rod diameter.

The customer had originally approached their usual seal supplier for the seals, but they had declined as the majority of the seals were manufactured in a 60% bronze filled PTFE that they were unable to source.

    Assessment

The customer needed a quick turnaround on the seals and had to complete their overhaul within two weeks. The cylinders themselves all appeared to have slightly different cylinder bores, and therefore, each of them had to be accurately measured to ensure the seals were correctly manufactured to suit.

  • Solution

Each cylinder was accurately measured, using various measuring instruments, including standard Digital Vernier Calipers, Groove Micrometers, Pi-Tapes and Internal Gauge Digital Verniers. A full assessment was made of the dimensions and sent to the office for pricing.

    Result

The material was ordered and delivered to our Engineered Seals Division in Sheffield within 5 working days, where the seals were carefully manufactured by our highly skilled production team. The seals were then inspected three times, by the machinist, the production manager and then the team in despatch before they were delivered to the customer within the required timescale.
